Sarah and Aaron’s Peninsula Club Wedding on Lake Norman

Hi, I’m James

I specialize in fun, documentary-style wedding photography, and focus on the genuine moments and heartfelt joy of your wedding day.

A Perfect Day on Lake Norman

Sarah and Aaron tied the knot at Saint Mark’s Catholic Church before celebrating their reception at The Peninsula Club on Lake Norman. Their day was nothing short of perfect — filled with joy, laughter, and moments that exceeded their expectations.

“Perfect! Everything turned out better than we could have ever imagined. All of our vendors were wonderful, all of our guests had a great time, and we enjoyed every moment,” the couple shared.

The Peninsula Club’s stunning lake views and elegant cocktail hour space were highlights. “The venue was beautiful. Our favorite was the room used for cocktail hour — and you can’t beat the amazing lake views,” they noted.

Favorite Wedding Day Moments

For Sarah and Aaron, two memories stood out most:

  • The emotional moment Aaron first saw Sarah as she walked down the aisle.
  • A private dinner during cocktail hour, giving them time to soak it all in together.

This quiet time is something many couples overlook, but Sarah and Aaron’s decision to carve out a private moment helped them fully enjoy the day. As a wedding photojournalist, I always look for ways to capture these intimate moments without intruding.

Their Love Story

Sarah and Aaron met on a dating app, a modern story many couples can relate to. “After many terrible first dates, I was ready to give up, but with Aaron it was definitely different!” Sarah said.

Aaron’s proposal was both sweet and surprising. He popped the question in Sarah’s classroom, the day before school officially started. He entered with dozens of roses, and after Sarah said yes, their moms and Sarah’s coworkers joined to celebrate.

What Makes Them Unique

When asked what makes them unique as a couple, Sarah and Aaron explained: “Aaron and I are completely weird, especially when it’s just the two of us. We are often found singing (Aaron making up his own renditions of songs), dancing in the kitchen, and talking in weird voices. We are completely comfortable around each other.”

They also share the same love language — quality time — which they learned is rare for couples, but perfectly suited for them.

Planning Tips for Your Peninsula Club Wedding

Thinking about hosting your wedding at The Peninsula Club? Here are some tips inspired by Sarah and Aaron’s experience:

  1. Book early – The Peninsula Club is a sought-after Lake Norman wedding venue, so secure your date as soon as possible.
  2. Plan for dock photos – The dock offers iconic lakefront portraits, especially at sunset.
  3. Consider the season – Spring and fall are comfortable and ideal for lakeside celebrations.
  4. Schedule a private moment – Like Sarah and Aaron, carve out time to soak it all in together.
  5. Ask the right questions – When meeting with your photographer, make sure to ask about their experience with The Peninsula Club’s layout and lighting.

Great photography is essential to capturing the beauty of this venue. Couples often find that hiring someone with a sports photography background for weddings is especially helpful, since fast reflexes make it easier to catch fleeting, candid moments.
