Morning Memories Before “I Do”

The hours leading up to Olivia and Chip’s Old Saybrook wedding were filled with intimate moments and excitement.

Olivia shared, “I was thinking, ‘alright, this is it, we’re in the room getting ready, enjoy this time with your girls, have a coffee or a mimosa, just savor the moment.’ Instead of stressing about what’s coming next, I really soaked it all in, and that was really meaningful to me.”

For Chip, the morning brought its own special memories. “Seeing all my buddies up there with me, chowing down on pizza, chatting away, and having a good time—it made me so happy. It felt real, like, ‘Wow, this is actually happening, it’s our big day.’ When my older brother was helping me with my tie, I could feel that lump in my throat and the tears welling up because it hit me just how special and emotional this day would be. It’s a moment I’ll always remember.”

Olivia recalled a sweet moment with her family: “There was a really sweet moment with my sister and mom. We took some time on the side, and my mom helped me put on my shoes and zip up my dress. It was just my core people, you know?

My sister helped me with my necklace, and I couldn’t help but relish in that moment, feeling so grateful that they were there to celebrate with us. Everyone was so laid back, just having a blast, and that made it all the more special to me.”

Ceremony Highlights at an Old Saybrook Estate

The ceremony at this stunning private residence in Old Saybrook created unforgettable memories for the couple.

Olivia reflected, “It’s just so mind-blowing and heartwarming to look out and see all those people there for us, celebrating our love. It’s such a special moment, you can’t help but feel humbled by it all. And you know what’s even crazier? Nothing else matters in that moment. Like, a couple of things went wrong, like I somehow managed to misplace the art table numbers.

But you know what? It didn’t even matter because everyone was here, and they didn’t even care about those little details. They were all just here to show their love and support for us. It’s just so touching and unforgettable!”

Planning Wisdom from the Newlyweds

When asked about advice for other couples, Olivia shared a perspective shift that helped them enjoy their big day.

“Something you said that really stuck with us. When we met you for the walk-through a couple of days before the big day? You gave us this fantastic analogy that totally resonated with us. You said, ‘This is like your Christmas Eve, so enjoy this moment!’ It was like a light bulb went off in my head. You know, even though things might feel a bit stressful and high-energy, it’s all part of the build-up, just like Christmas Eve. And that completely changed my perspective.

Any stress I had before that moment just shifted to a more positive energy. I realized that all the decisions were made, and we didn’t need to change anything. So we might as well embrace the excitement and enjoy the ride. I loved that advice so much that I’ve passed it on to all my friends who are getting married this year. I told every bride I know to cherish that ‘Christmas Eve build-up moment,’ you know? Don’t get bogged down by the little stuff, just have fun with it all.”
