Wadsworth Mansion Wedding Guide: Everything Couples Should Know

Wadsworth Mansion at Long Hill Estate is a historic mansion in Middletown surrounded by gardens and 100+ acres of parkland.

It’s one of the most popular mansion wedding venues in Connecticut, known for its long driveway, classic architecture, and open lawns that can handle both intimate and large celebrations.

I’m Glad You’re Here!

I specialize in fun, documentary-style wedding photography, and focus on the genuine moments and heartfelt joy of your wedding day.

Why Couples Love Wadsworth Mansion

The mansion feels private and elegant without being over the top. Ceremonies can happen indoors or outdoors, and the flow between the terraces, lawns, and ballrooms gives you flexibility no matter the season.

It’s also a venue that can host big weddings without losing its charm. The grounds can hold large tents, and the interior has space for dinner, dancing, or backup if the weather changes.

What to Know Before Booking

Wadsworth Mansion is owned by the City of Middletown and rented for private events. You’ll bring in your own catering, bar, and rentals, but staff will provide guidance and rules for setup.

There’s no overnight lodging on site, so you’ll need to book hotels nearby in Middletown or Hartford.

Parking is available, but shuttles or valet are recommended for larger weddings.

The mansion has strict timing and noise rules, so confirm event hours before you book.

Tips for Planning a Wedding at Wadsworth Mansion

  • Book early. Prime dates go fast, especially in spring and fall
  • Plan your rain backup. The ballrooms can handle ceremonies or smaller dinners if the weather turns.
  • Think about lighting. The mansion looks incredible with uplighting or candles at night.
  • Use the grounds for portraits. The long driveway, stone terraces, and gardens give you variety without leaving the property.
  • Check vendor requirements. All vendors must be licensed and approved by the venue.
